Season Opening
The spring fishing season opens on the 3rd weekend in May (usually coinciding with the Canadian May long weekend), with spring rates extending to the end of June. Luckily for you, we have the best fishing holes right here in sheltered Callander Bay just off our shores- it's a great time for a fishing getaway.
The summer months of July and August continue to be a great time for pickerel (walleye) and also lead into the bass season.
The fall season is the best time for sport trophy fishing of Muskie and pike. If you’re up for the challenge, your patience will pay off big time! (And we promise to believe all stories about "the one that got away"!)

Fish Species
The main species that are sought after and caught here are walleye, large- & small-mouth bass, northern pike and musky. We offer well equipped 16 ft Legend boats with 25 hp Mercury motors in our large, sheltered marina, completely rebuilt in 2020 – or we can provide docking for your own boat.
Fish to your heart’s content, day or evening, in Callander Bay, or venture out into the open waters beyond the bay. Callander Bay offers excellent fishing for a wide variety of species and gives you shelter and safety in comparison to the rest of the Lake Nipissing. We will point you in the right direction to find all the great fishing holes and provide you with a complimentary map of the lake. We take our fishing seriously and we’re here to make it memorable for you!
WALLEYE are plentiful in the 2-3 pound range, with larger walleye in the 4-5 pound range, with trophy catches over 10lbs. The bay has numerous shoals, rocky points, and weed beds where they like to hide- and we know where they are! See fishing tips at http://nipissing.com/tips/
MUSKIES are common in the 40”-50” range, weighing 30–40lbs. You will rarely see anything smaller, and they can be in the 50”-55” range, weighing up to 50lbs!
NORTHERN PIKE are common in the 15”-35” range; and can be 40” and more. Gar pike have also been caught in this range. The infamous weed bed located within minutes of the resort offers some of the best northern pike fishing on Lake Nipissing.
LARGE AND SMALL MOUTH BASS are common in the 2- 4 pound range, with larger 5- 9 pound trophy catches available. In the right area, you will catch bass all day long: large mouth hotspots abound, and we know the rocky shoals where the schools of small mouth are found.

Marina & Boats
Our fleet of Legend 16 foot aluminum boats, with 25 hp 4-stroke electric start Mercury motors, will take you to your favourite fishing holes quickly. They are strong and stable and will handle most water conditions with ease. The boats have three comfortable swivel seats, colour fish finder, live well, power tilt motor, anchor, electric bilge pump, lights, CSA approved life vests, and safety kits. The marina is well lit and sheltered, with walkways beside boats for ease of loading.
Your own personal Sunbeam Bungalows boat and motor is included with your cottage rental in the summer months, and is an optional addition in Spring & Fall rates. Boat launching
For those wishing to bring their own boats, just let us know at the time of your reservation- we have a well protected marina with ample lighting and docking spaces, as well as a sheltered launch ramp into deep water. Our summer weekly accommodation rates include a boat and motor, however, if you prefer to bring your own boat in the summer season (late June to beginning of September), we will gladly provide free launching and docking for up to 2 personal boats, in lieu of the Sunbeam boat.
Boat rentals/docking fees
We also offer regular rental rates on our boats & motors: for a day's outing, for several days, or by the week.
-Weekly rate is $500;
-1 day rate is $160;
-2 day rate (2 consecutive days) is $250;
-Rate for following days (up to 5 extra) is $50 per day.
Additional Trolling Motor - option for guests
Trolling motor (must be booked in advance of your reserved stay):
$100/week; $20/day.
Please note: The motor is allocated to you for the length of your stay, and priced accordingly, whether your stay is several days or a full week.
Personal Boat Docking
Launching/docking of personal boats, per boat:
Daily $25/Weekly $125 CAD
Please note: the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) is NOT required for guests using or renting one of our boats- you are required to complete a rental boat safety checklist; the PCOC is required for Canadian guests bringing their own boat
Fish cleaning facilities
We can say with pride that our fish cleaning station is the best on Lake Nipissing - equipped with fillet knives, cutting boards, running water, freezer service, and bags for your fillets. We also have fishing licenses, and live bait available as another convenient service to you.
